Is a trade from the Colts in Anthony Richardson's future?

When lying on yourself is better than quitting on yourself.  This story is difficult and one of those sports-bone-headed-moments of disbelief.  Some may even give some sarcastic laughs.  But believe it or not it’s completely true and a lesson on its face.

This is sports commentating on Colts QB1 Anthony Richardson taking himself out of the game.  He would not return and the team would lose this game to the Texans.  YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING? THIS cannot BE?

Yes, this happened.

The confusion runs deep.  I’ve played competitive sports all the way up to college.  Those that make it to the pros are the cream of the crop, athletically special and lucky to have not had significant injuries on the way up.  They understand the grind, the grit, the trash-talking, practices, gym time, the pressure of it all.  So to see a talented young Quarterback finally make the starting QB1 designation of an NFL team is extremely praise worthy.

SO WHAT IN THE WORLD tells this guy NOT to just fake an injury instead of telling the truth about your lack of conditioning and that you are TIRED???

{pause for effect, then pause again for some sarcastic laughter, then pause for shaking your head}

It’s really hard to understand.  I have never played competitive sports at any level above t-ball where quitting is even an option.  To see Anthony Richardson do this was an absolute mind bender, because quitting at this level means you shouldn’t be at this level.  Anthony Richardson had to know this.  If he didn’t; he does now.  The Indianapolis Colts this week announced that Daniel Jones will be their QB1 for the 2025 season.  Daniel Jones’ 79.4 passer rating last season is underwhelming.  But, it’s still better than Richardson’s.  So an argument can be made that the Colts just didn’t see any improvement at this year’s training camp.  Reports around the organization speak to a team that lost trust in Richardson.  That happens when you quit a team sport that doesn’t have quitting part of the game.

It’s so sad, cause you already knew what was to come.   On that fateful October 27th, 2024 game, Anthony Richardson didn’t just tap out of the game, he may have tapped out of his NFL career.
